GBF Young Husbands/Fathers,

We trust that you are all doing well. Over the last few months, several of you have reached out to both Pastor Bob and myself expressing a desire to have some kind of a period, on-going get-together for young husbands and fathers in which we would be able to discuss some topics and issues that you are facing in the context of others who are going through similar circumstances. As men, we understand this particular period of life to be somewhat challenging for many of us due to the many transitions that are happening. Some of you have expressed feeling "overwhelmed" or "busy" or that "I don't have time for anything." Family life is not always easy to manage, hence the apostle Paul says for all married men "Yet such will have trouble in this life" (1 Corinthians 7:28). At the same time, where the man of the house goes is where the rest of his family is headed. The following are pointed words from Pastor Byron Yawn:

"The leadership of husbands and fathers is a natural law of the soul.  God has designed it this way.  If the husband and father love canoeing, the family goes toward canoeing.  If the father likes camping, the family follows suit.  It’s the way things are.  If the husband decides there are more important things than God and family, so does everyone else.  If the husband’s heart is turned to God, the family will follow."

Thus, from March to June of this year, we will be having a seasonal "Young Husbands & Fathers Breakfast Club" consisting of five gatherings which you are all invited to attend. Pastor Bob will be the primary leader/teacher during these times, while I will be attending as a secondary teacher/leader as well.
Topics Covered
We will discuss the following topics:
1) Fidelity and devotion to your wife amidst temptation
2) Providing adequately for your family
3) Discipline and conviction in your habits and decisions
4) Developing a small but close circle of friends
5) Exhibiting spiritual courage amidst the pressures and fears of life
Time, Location, and Children
Sessions will be at 8:00 am till approx 9:30 am on that particular Saturday morning, with the location TBA (likely a place such as Mimi's Cafe, where we can get a closed-off section). Unlike men's breakfasts (where kids were allowed), these are men-only sessions. Thus, you will have to make arrangements for your wives to be home with your children should you decide to attend.
Session Dates
The dates for the sessions will be the following:
Session #1: Saturday, March 16th
Session #2: Saturday, April 6th
Session #3: Saturday, April 27th
Session #4: Saturday, May 18th
Session #5: Saturday, June 8th

Commitment and Attendance
We highly encourage as many of you to make it to this. For those of you who are planning to attend, we would ask that you would show more than mere interest, but be committed to attending and participating in all or most of the sessions. Obviously, no one here is mandated to attend. But it does no one good to engage in anything half-heartedly.
If you can please let me and Pastor Bob know if you would like to commit to attending,  we will begin to make the arrangements and prepare material for everyone. We look forward to spending these mornings with you all, as it promises to be an edifying time.
